TherGlass Concrete ADMIX HD-250 Plus
Crystalline Waterproofing Additive for special high-performance concretes, with high cement or fly ash content (≥350 kg/m3).
TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS is a next-generation geopolymer for the comprehensive waterproofing of concrete, through crystallization of the capillary network.
TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS is used for the treatment of concrete structures and elements subjected to hydrostatic pressure or water tables, as an effective solution against water infiltration, reducing or eliminating shrinkage and cracking of concrete, and preventing chemical attack and corrosion of reinforcing steel.
It is more effective, safer and more cost-effective than any conventional waterproofing system.
Specifications and Application Form
Concrete is a porous material by nature, most often with micro-cracks, voids, pores and capillaries that mainly form in the early stages of curing.
The better connected these gaps are, the more permeable the concrete is and the more prone it is to damage caused by the ingress of water, liquids, and corrosive agents.
However, TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS technology virtually eliminates concrete porosity and many of its inherent weaknesses, thereby increasing its durability.
TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS is added directly to the concrete mix during its preparation phase. It is recommended that the design concrete contain at least 300 kg/m3 of cement and a water-cement ratio (w/c) of 0.50 or less.
TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS is compatible with all standard plasticizers and fluidizers available on the market.
However, we recommend performing prior tests to ensure consistency and setting parameters.
Mixing Process
Concrete Plant – Dry Mix
- Add ADMIX HD-250 PLUS directly to the conveyor belt along with the aggregates at the time of loading.
- Mix according to usual practices, ensuring complete dispersion of the additive uniformly and ensuring a homogeneous mixture.
- Prevent worker safety and health when working on conveyor belts, as well as potential problems with dust spread by wind gusts.
CONCRETE CENTRAL – GROUT MIX
- Mix ADMIX HD-250 PLUS with water to form a very fluid, fine-textured slurry.
- Subsequently, pour all the concrete components (aggregates, cement and water) into the truck's mixing tank following the usual mixing process.
- Take into consideration the amount of water already used to make the grout.
- Pour the ADMIX HD-250 PLUS grout into the truck and mix for at least 5 minutes to ensure uniform distribution throughout the concrete mass.
- Prevent the safety and health of workers when approaching the tanks.
WORKS – DISCHARGE INTO CUBA
- Once the concrete mixer truck is on site, ADMIX HD-250 PLUS can be added directly to the tank.
- To do this, pour the powder smoothly, slowly, and steadily into the inlet hopper of the tank, and mix for at least 10 minutes at high revolutions to ensure uniform distribution throughout the concrete mass.
- Prevent the safety and health of workers when approaching the tanks.
PRECAST PLANT
- Add ADMIX HD-250 PLUS , along with the aggregates and sand, mix well for 5 minutes.
- Add the cement and water and mix again following the usual mixing process.
Important:
- Although the concrete contains the ADMIX HD-250 PLUS additive , the need to make the corresponding designs for crack control, detailing of construction or expansion joints, as well as taking measures to repair defects in the concrete (e.g., holes, cracks greater than permissible limits, etc.) is not excluded.
- For more information regarding the most appropriate use of TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS for a specific project, contact your local TherGlass® technical representative.
Joint treatment
Joints between the different concrete elements that make up the structure: slab-to-slab, wall-to-wall, slab-to-wall, pipe passages, through holes (splits), etc., should be treated according to our recommendations in our Technical Bulletin Application (TJS) 1.027 . TherGlass® Joint System.
Cleaning
Fresh tools and implements can be cleaned with water. If the material has hardened, it can only be cleaned mechanically.
Dosages and Consumption
The dosage of TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS is 0.715% of the total cement content. Smaller or larger quantities may be recommended in special cases and depending on the desired performance.
Storage
Protect from sunlight and extreme temperatures. In tropical climates, the product should be stored in a cool place. In cold climates, the product should be stored at a temperature ≥ 5°C. TherGlass® Concrete ADMIX HD-250 PLUS has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture if stored correctly and in its original, sealed packaging.
